Takeda and Psyon Games enter into a five-year partnership agreement to scale the award-winning FULL ADHD awareness game to the European markets
PRESS RELEASE
Switzerland, September, 2023
FULL ADHD, a mobile game developed to raise awareness about ADHD, has been a great success in Finland and is now being scaled internationally. The game has received positive feedback both from people who have found it eye-opening and people who have found the gamified ADHD experience relatable.
The game was launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in Finland in the spring of 2021 with a public awareness campaign “How Does ADHD Feel Like?” and to date the campaign has as many as 2.5 million views and the game has been downloaded nearly 40,000 times.
FULL ADHD is an interactive mobile game designed to increase awareness of adult ADHD, its symptoms, and its impact on daily life. It was built based on the experience and input of people living with ADHD, an expert psychiatrist and the Finnish ADHD patient association. The story and the mechanics are based on scientific research and the real-life experience of people living with ADHD.
In the game, the user dives into the ADHD journey of a young adult character Eddie (English version). By making choices that affect Eddie’s life, the user encounters the limits of Eddie’s executive function resources, which represent his ability to organize, focus, exert effort, remember, and regulate emotions and actions. These resources may deplete unexpectedly for individuals with ADHD, leading the story in unpredictable directions.
The game utilizes storytelling techniques to depict the ADHD experience in a relatable manner. Additionally, the game incorporates active choice mechanics based on Brown’s theoretical model of executive function. The game is a visual novel and it is easy to follow, requiring no specific gaming skills from players. Furthermore, the game includes an extensive information library with articles on the themes addressed in the game.
To date, FULL ADHD has been honored with The Annual Medical Information Act Award by the Finnish Pharmaceutical Industry and The Applied Game Of The Year Award by the Finnish Game Industry. The release campaign, “How Does ADHD Feel Like?” won the international 2022 EMEA SABRE Award in the Consumer Health category. The game was also awarded The Most Valuable Patient Education Award at the Reuters Pharma Europe 2022 event.
